GIS Manager

Job Summary
This position is responsible for managing the city’s geographic information system (GIS).

Job Duties
- Oversees all enterprise GIS operations for the city, including database management and administration, data structure and database development, system administration, GIS software selection, implementation, and user support.
- Performs project management functions related to the city’s GIS systems.
- Develops budget proposals and manages approved funds; controls expenditures.
- Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel.
- Performs strategic and program management functions to ensure that enterprise GIS goals and implementation schedules are maintained to include project management, guiding internal resources, education, managing external consultants, and implementing the strategic plan.
- Manages the tactical and operational implementation of GIS components for city-wide and department initiatives, including analysis, mapping, and application configuration and deployment, and geodatabase development.
- Participates in professional organizations and completes continuing education training.
- Performs related duties

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Position will be open until filled.
