ACADEMIC PROJECTS
❖ Master’s Research Project: “Rice Production Suitability Assessment across Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, and
Mississippi using pH, Drainage, Hydric Rating, and Land Cover Data”
o GIS-based land suitability analysis for traditional flooded rice using SSURGO soil data and ArcGIS Pro 3.5
o Extracted drainage class, hydric rating, and soil pH through MUKEY-based relational joins
o Applied attribute queries and classification to generate a binary suitability layer
o Compared suitability results with USDA Cropland Data Layer to evaluate current production zones
o Results showed highest suitability in Arkansas, with fragmented suitable areas in Louisiana and Mississippi and
limited areas in southeastern Missouri
o Awarded First Place, Arkansas GIS Users Forum (2025)
❖ “GIS Project–Sea-Level Rise Impact Analysis, Altamaha Watershed, Georgia”
o Modeled a 70-meter sea-level rise scenario using elevation, land use, crop, and population datasets in ArcGIS Pro
o Quantified flooded area, agricultural crop loss, and population displacement
o Produced spatial analysis maps illustrating pre- and post-flood conditions
o Demonstrated significant impacts on farmland and communities within the watershed
❖ Project on small UAS (drone) applications in irrigation, nutrient management, weed control, and IPM based on peer-reviewed
studies.
